Through the cultural association El Trastero de las Artes, we have learned about a projectcalled Much Woman. The objective of this project is to try to make womenmarginalized from society, whether for relational and/or economic reasons, mayregain self-esteem by participating in plays.

The Acció Solidària contra l'Atur foundation tries to provide financial support to projects like this, which today we will learn about first-hand, as they have opened their doors to us and explained to us their relationship with the foundation and how the Mucha Mujer project works.

How did you find out about Acció Solidària Contra l'Atur (ASCA)?

During the summer of 2010, we looked for a bank that would agree to grant us a loan to be able to carry out the preparation and organization of the premiere of the play There, where you keep the strength of your humanity,
within the framework of the first edition of the Mucha Mujer project. In the month of July, we contacted Albert Gasch Hurios, client manager at Fiare Catalunya.

Considering the objectives of the Mucha Mujer project, among which it is worth highlighting that of labor integration, Albert Gasch Hurios advised us to contact Francesc Casas, from ASCA.

How were the beginnings?

Following Albert Gasch's recommendations, we contacted Montse Moretó, from ASCA, who made an appointment with Francesc Casas for September.

Prior to the appointment, we sent you various documentation related to the Mucha Mujer project. On the day of the meeting, we received an excellent welcome from Francesc Casas and his collaborator.

We were surprised by the fact that they had taken the time to study in detail the various documents we had sent them before the meeting. They were very enthusiastic and positive about our project. At the end of the meeting they asked us to send them more documentation so that the board could make a decision regarding granting a loan to the Trastero de las Artes association.
How has ASCA helped you start your new business?

After sending them the complementary information that they had requested, Francesc called us to tell us that the ASCA board agreed to lend us the amount requested by the Palau de la Música Catalana (place where the new theatrical creation of Trastero de las Artes, There, where you keep the strength of your humanity) for the rental of the Cambra Music Room.

However, since, in the end, Trastero de las Artes preferred to assume this cost without help, we did not ask ASCA to grant us any loan, but rather we agreed with them to establish a financial support relationship if necessary.

What does the Trastero de las Artes cultural association do?

Trastero de las Artes is a non-profit cultural association, created in March 2008, which is dedicated to researching and disseminating the arts in all its expressions. The search workStorage Room of the ArtsIt is based on integrating the language of art, poetry and the body with other languages and social practices, such as education, health or the human sciences, and enabling an awareness of the relationships that people establish with themselves, with others. others and with their environment.

What does the Mucha Mujer sociocultural project consist of?

The idea of the Mucha Mujer project was born from the women of the family ofLaura Settecase, creator and director of the project, who began to consider where they were and where they felt that inner force that, at a specific moment, made things change. The projectMany WomenIt was, therefore, designed and thought to work on social problems from the artistic field and highlight thegreat potential that the activities havecultural to alleviate social problems.

The women who participate in the theater training workshops given within the framework of the Mucha Mujer project suffer from a lack of participation in society, both on an economic scale and on a political and social-relational scale. Therefore, it is about maintaining self-esteem, the will to overcome obstacles and move forward despite difficulties through theater.

What do you value most about your experience?

I am convinced that you can always turn your dreams into realities; It is always worth trying to make an idea in which you firmly believe a reality, especially when it comes to contributing with your actions to improving the world in which we live.
If there is no doubt that it is possible and that it is worth it, there is also no doubt that, to carry out any action, it is essential to surround yourself with motivated and committed people, as well as collaborators from both the third sector and the private and public sectors.

What recommendation would you make to those who are in the same situation as you?

Without a doubt, one of the most important lessons I have learned from this experience is that a little can go a long way. If you want to give continuity and strength to any type of project – and perhaps especially to a sociocultural project like that of Mucha Mujer – in order to be able to face the multiple challenges of sustainability, it is essential to establish collaboration alliances between the sector. public, private sector and non-profit organizations.
